This position can be based out of Austin, TX, Herndon, VA.

We are looking for Sr.
Design engineer with hands on new product design and development experience in electrical power distribution equipment such as Low Voltage Switchgear or panel boards.
If you can design electrical power distribution equipment, understand the critical equipment needs for a data center, and support our suppliers for the manufacturing of varying designs you may be a good fit.
You will directly lead and support product development and be a part of the process from concept to implementation.
You must be capable of defining equipment specifications and evaluating the merit of design changes.
You will be relied on as a subject matter expert in the product design field.

As a product engineer at Amazon you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including engineering service providers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third party testing labs and contractors.

Travel will be necessary but shouldn't be more than 30%.
International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary.
Support could consist of leading international projects and could require developing engineering packages.
An understanding of international electrical design requirements is helpful but not necessary.
Key job responsibilitieso Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop cutting edge concepts into new products.
o Lead new product design and development and work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input.
o Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance to create well thought out products.
o Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment.
o Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment.
o Ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
o Review and approval of product design and drawings including mechanical parts, assembly, construction and electrical drawings.
o Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.
o Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
o Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
o Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.
