Job summaryAmazon Web Services is seeking Product Design engineer for our Product engineering team.
The product engineering team are part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation for electrical distribution equipment used within our rapidly expanding data center foot print.
In this team you will be based out of Austin, TXOur Product Engineers are a high performing team of engineers who enjoy working with complex problems! At Amazon, you will be responsible for working on multi-million dollar designs and supporting our wide variety of customers.

In this role you will:
o Have hands on electrical power distribution related design and product development experience.
o Design electrical power distribution and controls, understand the critical equipment needs for a data center, and understand the manufacturing of varying design.
o Directly lead and support product development and be a part of the process from concept to implementation.
o Define equipment specifications and evaluate the merit of design changes.
o Relied on as a subject matter expert in the engineering field.

As a product engineer at Amazon you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including engineering service providers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third party testing labs and contractors.
Amazon has a global presence.
Travel will be necessary but shouldn't be more than 30%.
International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary.
Support could consist of leading international projects and could require developing engineering packages.
Because of this an understanding of international electrical design requirements is helpful but not necessary.
Key job responsibilitieso Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop cutting edge concepts into new products.
o Lead new product design and development and work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input.
o Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, QA/QC and compliance to create well thought out products.
o Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment.
o Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment.
o Ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
o Review and approval of product design and drawings for mechanical and electrical drawings.
o Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.
o Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
o Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
o Support of Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
